Receive!

Listen here

Colossians 2 verse 6: As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.

Paul reminded believers of that moment they received Christ and that we should walk in Him just as we have received Him. The Greek word for "receive" explicitly means "something that's taken upon delivery to which you join yourself".

Does that describe how you received Christ and all He has done for you through His death on the cross and by His resurrection on the 3rd day?

Because some folks' walk of life is almost like the 2 disciples who were on their way back to Emmaus on the day of Jesus' resurrection, walking next to Jesus, knowing all of His teachings and miracles, yet missing Him as Risen Lord, and therefore not walking in Him.

Walking in Christ means to take every step with faith in Christ based on His doing in us, knowing that we were fully included in Him and are now one with Him.

By the way, that idea of "walking" was Paul's way of saying, "everywhere you go in all you do with every breath you take." Listen, you may have received Christ in the past, but are you walking in Him in the present and fully dependent upon Him taking every step into the future?

Walking in Christ, as we have received Him, is the practical expression of being crucified with Christ and no longer living for ourselves but living through the new life He has given us, unashamed of Him in every capacity.

Paul reminded us of this because some of us still have the religious add-ons to Jesus, as if Jesus alone isn't enough.

That's why Paul shortly afterwards wrote in ‭Colossians 2:9-10: For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

So, may we be reminded this morning, like the Colossian believers of old, that as we have received Christ, let us so walk in Him, as absolutely loved, forgiven, redeemed, reconciled, righteous, and holy, experiencing our worth and position only in Him.
